THE LAST OF THE SUMMER SUN2019
Bee lives and works on the Kapiti Coast, an hour north of Wellington, until recently on a bush-clad clifftop overlooking the Otaki Gorge river and now on a sandy coastal peak at Peka Peka, with expansive sea views out to Kapiti Island and further north.
Exploring some of New Zealand's remoter regions from time to time, also provides ongoing inspiration for Bee.
SHADOWS2016
Abstracted land and sea vistas from Milford Sound to the Bay of Islands are embedded in Bee’s vibrant works.
While Bee's works evidence her love of stimulating earthy colours, some of the eight galleries on-line here include sophisticated, neutral works which exude a more subtle energy.

MISTY MORNING AT TAYLORS MISTAKE2017
Bee says "It is all about colour for me . . . I love colour and try to use colour to capture the feelings or emotions behind my paintings - the atmosphere, real or imagined, of these seascapes and landscapes rather than the actual detail.”
MOUNTAIN OZONE2019
“Limiting my palette on a painting by painting basis, I feel, allows the mind to drift off into the abstraction.
Sometimes I binge on a particular colour for weeks at a time. This is recognised in the colour-groupings of my on-line galleries.”
See for yourself in the Clockwork Orange and Trust In Rust galleries here.
HARBOUR SHADOWS2015
"Water in some form or other features in virtually every canvas I paint.
Perhaps this is a result of using different media with my oils in very fluid ways . . . this creates a spontaneity which sometimes overtakes my paintings with unintended outcomes.”
WHITEOUT2014
“Lately the boundless watery elements have been drifting off to include swathes, ribbons and clouds of damp mist.
Details, structures, horizons and even whole paintings all disappearing softly into the faded mists of time . . .”
WINTER TIDES2017
“When oils, inks, shellacs or other media clump, drip, splatter or run, creative tension is heightened. It’s all on!
Brushing, rolling, smudging, stippling, scraping with a palette knife and finessing with bare hands all come into play.
Look into the Kaleidoscope and Simply Red galleries for some of the end results.”
MIST OVER MILFORD2017
“Uninhibited semi-abstract landscapes and seascapes are created layer by layer. This spontaneity of process sometimes results in a fully abstract painting - without any reference to an horizon, emerging.
Always a surprise.”
TONGARIRO CROSSING2014
“Although unanticipated results do happen, this whole process is enjoyable as in the end, it is not any specific detail of these imaginary landscapes and seascapes I am wanting to lay out on a work, but just the atmospheric essence of them.”
GOLDEN BAY II2019
Bee also enjoys the creative scope large canvases provide, regularly working on commission or exhibition works with dimensions of up to two or three metres square.
Usually several paintings are worked on at once . . . layer by layer for a number of weeks or months until each one is complete.

RUSTIC MIST2013
In addition to the sale of paintings via exhibitions and art shows, Bee also sells her work via this site.
It is important that buyers are happy with their painting purchase – if necessary, an artwork bought on-line may be returned and payment refunded, provided the painting is returned safely, in a timely fashion and in original condition. More about buying risk-free on-line, on the Contact page.
MIDNIGHT ICE2013
Bee also accepts commissions for larger works.
In most circumstances Bee will want to view the location planned for the painting and discuss size, shape and palette possibilities. Or photos of the location are useful.
Clients are then encouraged to review the paintings on this website and provide appropriate feedback to Bee before the newly commissioned work is started. More about risk-free Commissions on the Contact page.
BLUE TIDES2016
Bee says “It is all about colour for me. . .” and as a consequence, most of the paintings being exhibited on this site have been grouped by colour in eight galleries with self-explanatory names.
A creative feast of inspiring colour for art aficionados wherever you are.
