Exhibition: ArtSelect Gallery in Auckland – Inside Out Again is running at ArtSelect Gallery in Newmarket Auckland through until Tuesday 18 February. Sales have been good so make sure you find time to call into the Gallery before the Exhibition closes. Inside Out as always refers to the process of getting what is inside my head, outside and onto canvas as an abstraction of a landscape or seascape I have been holding in my mind’s eye.

This painting – oils on board, one metre square and framed in an off-white tray-frame is just one being exhibited. Called ‘The Melt’ because the upper half of the painting with its 24 hour daylight ‘summer on the ice’ elements seems to be melting into the lower half’s catchment lakes, exposing much of the rocky and barren landscape usually hidden under snow and shrouded in 24 hour darkness for several months of each year. However this is just one interpretation.

Below find ‘Tenuous Connection’ at 750mm wide and 500mm high and also framed in an off-white tray frame, this smaller painting with its partially washed out swing bridge brings to mind the rugged landscape in and around Skippers Canyon in Queenstown.

More images showing dimensions and prices can be seen in the Available Now Gallery on this website and feel free to contact Ngaire Stone at ArtSelect or myself via this website if you are interested in acquiring one of my paintings . . . or having a commission painted especially for you.
